Hello- my name is William, but most people call me Bill. I know that working with someone requires trust, which I believe that trust comes from allowing people to get to know who you are. So, here is a little about who I am:
I grew up on the east coast in Upstate New York and moved around a bit during my high school years, ending up in the Seattle area. After graduating from Puyallup High School in Puyallup, Washington, I ventured through Utah and Ohio before finding my way to Colorado. I met my wife and started my family here in Colorado Springs, and it has become my home. My love for the written word led me to earn a degree in English from Brigham Young University – Idaho. Then, I returned to Colorado to get my law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
I always knew I wanted to help people fight for justice, and originally, I thought I was going to pursue trust and estate planning, helping people protect their legacies and guiding families during times of loss. However, my journey in law took a detour when I interned at the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office during my last year of law school. I found a real passion for trial work, and fighting for the law in front of judges and juries. After graduation and passing the bar exam, I accepted a position as a Deputy District Attorney, where I handled thousands of cases, ranging from speeding tickets to major felonies. After some time, I was offered a position at a large firm here in Colorado Springs doing Criminal Defense. I appreciated the experience that offered me, but found that I wanted to help people the way I really wanted to, so I left and founded my own solo firm before joining Liberty Law Center. At Liberty Law Center, I found a group of people who were more interested in defending the rights of not only our clients, but the rights guaranteed to all by our Constitution and knew that I was now fulfilling my calling in life- helping people find real justice and upholding the law.
So, why choose me as your attorney? The number one reason- I only do what is right for the client. If that is to seek a plea deal- then I will do that. If that is to take the case to trial, then I will do that. I am not looking to protect my trial record, or to achieve any outcome besides what is best for my client. That is my one and only goal for each case I handle.
I believe everyone deserves a lawyer who genuinely cares and listens to them. Outside the courtroom, I'm all about compassionate understanding of my client’s needs and I work hard to understand what outcomes they want when dealing with the legal system. I believe in helping my clients in any way I can, which often means helping them find solutions for underlying issues (substance use, mental health issues, etc.), and not just addressing the legal issue that I’ve been hired to handle. We have built relationships with treatment providers, therapists, and other professionals who help people when they find themselves stuck in the court systems.
When it's time to fight for my clients' rights, I'm as tough as they come- I am a true Trial Attorney, who has taken over 80 cases to trial in front of a jury, and handled countless hearings on evidence and legal issues in front of judges. I believe the law can be a powerful tool for justice. The courtroom is where I thrive, and use every ounce of my knowledge and skills to help my clients get justice- winning often, but always ensuring that my clients know that someone was by their side and fought for them even when the odds were stacked against them.
