Drake Larson, Family Law Attorney
My name is Drake. Not Drake Larson, not sir, not mister. Just Drake. Unlike many attorneys, I’m writing this introduction in first person. Lots of other firms have it in third person, like some unknown narrator is describing the attorney. That’s weird and impersonal. This is a letter to you, the reader.
I’m not going to waste your time with boring information about where I went to law school or how many degrees I have on my wall. Instead, I’ll tell you who I am (rather than what I have done). Though if you do want to know about that stuff, you can review them in the bullet points at the bottom of the page.
I was born and raised in Minnesota. I moved to Colorado in 2015, just in time to take the bar and begin practicing. I immediately fell in love with Colorado. My family and I enjoy taking hikes anywhere we can and taking trips into the mountains to explore. Speaking of family, I have a wife, a two-year-old son, two dogs and three cats. Our house is always full of energy and noise. My son is still learning to speak, but one of the first things he learned was every animal’s name, and he insists on saying goodbye and giving each one a hug before leaving (which the dogs love, and the cats despise).
Between work and the family, I don’t have too much free time. But when I do, I spend it listening to music, reading books (sci-fi, fantasy, and history (if I’m feeling studious)), watching Netflix, and running. I don’t look it, but before law school, work, and life took hold, I ran half-marathons regularly. I dream of getting back to that point, but it’s always so easy to find an excuse to not exercise, so it’s an uphill battle.
Every attorney has their own style. Many are uptight, stuffy, pretentious, and arrogant. That doesn’t fit me one bit, though. You will find that I’m easy to talk to, and laid back, but also absolutely willing to fight. I love being in the courtroom. Arguing and orating in court is possibly one of my favorite activities. However, I also recognize that oftentimes negotiation is a better tactic than leaving your fate up to a judge, and I am absolutely proficient at navigating a negotiation with the other side to get you the best possible deal. When you come to me for advice, I will not sugarcoat things. I will not be a “yes man” that tells you what you want to hear. I will tell you my honest opinion, even if it’s not necessarily what you want to hear.
So… that’s me, in a nutshell. If you want to get to know me better, if you want to see if we’ll be a good fit, give me a call. Let’s have a consultation. We’ll discuss the facts of your case, you’ll get some advice, and if you’d like me to represent you, we can talk about that too. I don’t try to sell anything during my consultations. I’m not that obnoxious pushy salesman type.
